This study was conducted to measure the costs-added that enterprises incurred when employing people with disabilities in 2013. For this purpose, we estimated the extra costs that employers paid to employ disabled workers in 2013. We also estimated the costs caused by productivity loss of due to the employment of disabled workers using the Cobb-Duglas production function. The extra costs paid by enterprises were estimated in the following three categories: facility costs, equipment costs and employment management costs.
This study showed that the monthly costs-added paid by enterprises (which was the sum of extra costs and productivity loss) were 675 thousand KRW, extra costs were 281 thousand KRW and the costs due to productivity loss were 394 thousand KRW.
