A strain of virus which showed somewhat like a cytopathic effect(CPE) of adenovirus on tissue cultures of dog kidney cell was isolated. The doner of the cell was apparently a healthy Korean native 3 months old dog. Further identification of the isolated virus was carried out and on the other hand the distribution of nutralizing antibody against the isolated virus was also carried. The results obtained were as follows, 1. In the primary monolayer tissue culture that the virus was isolated, the CPE was appeared as to be around and grape-like cluster at 7 days of cultivation. 2. The isolated virus was not inactivated by tLe treatment of ether and chloroform, whereas the virus was not grown under the treatment of 5-iodo-2-deoxyuridine(IUDR). 3. Hemagglutinability of the isolated virus was ob erved from the red blood cells of guinea-pig, mouse, sheep, dog and human O-type, and was inhibited by the specific immune antisera of the isolated virus and the P. D. strain of infectious canine hepatitis virus (ICHV). On the other hand, cross-neutr- alization was observed between the isolated virus and the P. D. strain. 4. Pathogenecity of the isolated virus was recognized especially on a case of venous inoculation to a dog of 3 months old, showing increasing of body temperature and appearance of corneal opacities of the eye and typical macroand micro-pathological lesions of the ICH, 5. A-type of inlusion body was approved, in the nucleus of liver cells of dog infected artificially and in the dog kidney tissue culture cells. 6. Red blood cells being capable of hemagglutination were adsorbed to the canine kidney tissue culture cells in which the isolated virus was grown, and the adsorption of red blood cells were inhibited by the homorogous immune serum. 7. Morphology of isolated virus using refinements in the application of the negative staining technic to electron microscopy was identified to the adenovirus virion appearing icosahedral, 252 capsomeres, hexon and fiber, and 70-80 nm in diameter. 8. Neutralizing antibody to the sera of 120 cases of dogs in the field was observed as a positive rate of 35 per cent by th newly modified method of concurrent readmg of CPE and hemadsorption test.
