It is a progress report on how to coordinate the direction of standardizing the construction specifications of industrial and environmental facility construction. In the past, the specifications has been published in books which are updated regularly in every 4 years. The update interval is too long to catch up with new technologies and the editor board was monopolized by a few members of a related academic society. To overcome such problems, Center for National Construction Standards was established and it is pursuing new ideas for innovative standardization. This study suggests a few ideas regrading the matter. Firstly, the industrial and environmental specifications should be moved up to a higher tier by one level, considering its construction magnitude compared to the others. Secondly, the specifications should be managed by a dedicated specialty committee in form of data on a server. Its content should be updated constantly based on corresponding changes in legal regulations and new technologies. Thirdly, exclusive range associated with a specific construction license should be minimally imposed for self-sustaining development of the specifications based on competitive market.
