This study aims to examine the effects of the Argentine Tango program as the physical communication parameter on the elementary school students’ positive emotional cultivation and parent-child relationship.
The Tango program was conducted for the experimental group based on third to sixth graders in elementary school and relevant parents once in a week for 15 weeks. The emotional intelligence test was conducted for the control group which did not participated in the program, and the satisfaction scale in parent-child relationship test was conducted for their parents. The measured data which was used for the final analysis based on 12 couples of experimental group and 13 couples of control group was verified by the technical statistic s analysis and χ², T-test, MANOVA, product-moment correlation by using the statistics program SPSS 17.0, and the following conclusions were drawn.
First, the emotional intelligence of the experimental and control groups, there was no significant difference for elementary students in statistics(p>.05). Second, there was no significant difference in the control and experimental group parent-child relationship satisfaction scale in statistics by recognizing of the mothers. However, all the factors of the experimental group showing an improvement numerically and control group has decreased levels of all factors particularly communicative factors showed significant statistical difference(p<.05). Lastly, the emotional intelligence of the elementary students’ parent-child relationship satisfaction scale has a significant positive correlation in statistics. The higher satisfaction scale between parent-child related to communication was found to be the improved emotional expression (p<.01) and emotional recognition (p<.05).
It is evident that the Tango program as a leisure activity for the parents and children together improves the satisfaction scale in parent-child relationship as well as it is considered that it will have a positive effect on the child’s emotional side in the long term.
