Report Errors
Perforated ceiling system was developed for reducing floor impact sound by minimizing air-spring effect of airspace above ceiling panel. A study investigated the effect of perforated ceiling structure on floor impact sound. Firstly, the change in floor impact sound with and without ceiling airspace was measured in a test building. Noise reduction effect of perforated ceiling systems and glass wool at ceiling area was also investigated. As a result, ceiling air space caused increase of floor heavy-weight impact sound by about 2~4 dB. On the other hands, it was found that perforated ceiling structure with sound-absorbing materials reduced heavy-weight floor impact sound by 3 dB.
