In 20th century, 3C -Computation, Control, and Communication- influenced every part of our society through the digital media, and we call it the information revolution. Especially, the Internet, which had been graphic based communication network emphasized Virtual Reality, and allowed us to do electronic commerce and telecommuting in our own home. It means the cyberspace does no longer exist only in monitor, but reality. In such situation of having two conceptual worlds, the field of architecture, interior design, and residential environment design keep studying on housing in cyberspace such as cyber town and cyber housing. Human being in reality manages their identity by continuous contact with the others, grants special meaning on its procedure, and then selects the residential environment after he found his existence in a society. It shows the concept of housing has social and cultural background, and is made up of those interactives. Thus, two questions arise. 1. What human being`s dwell behavior means in non-materialized cyberspace? 2. What kind of cultural background does cyber-dwelling has? The intent of this study was inspired by those two questions. Therefore, I examined the cyberspace as well as human being`s cyber residential environment from the cultural point of view, and searched the possibility of neo-residential environment in cyber era.
