Seo-woo Jeon Byeonghun(1857~1927), who had served Go Gongseom as a master and found enlightenment through opening the Hyeonguan(玄關) by practicing Taoism(which is assumed Jeon-Jin-Gyo (敎) Yong-Mun-Pa(派;group)), had ranged over extensive classics of Taoism.
‘The Jeongsin cheol_hak(精神哲學;Jeongsin philosophy)’ of Seo-woo Jeon Byeonghun has its roots in the concepts of Taoism. However, knowing and sighing for limits of practicing Taoism, he did absorb it critically. Considering the meaning of ‘Gyeomseong(兼聖)’, ‘Seongjin (成眞)’, ‘Hyeonguan(玄關)’, ‘brain nerves(腦神經; This concept differs from the cranial nerves)’, which are the most highly emphasized in his theory, leads to knowledge of that "Korean Sundo(韓國仙道; Korean traditional Taoism)" is deeply related to Seo-Woo"s theory.
‘Gyeomseong(兼聖)’ reflects the thought of ‘Hongikingan Jaeseihwa’(弘益人間 在世理化; ‘benefit all mankind’, humanitarianism) which is Korean national founding principle. ‘Seongjin(成眞)’ shows Korean Sundo(韓國仙道)"s thoughts of ‘The cosmos and one are united’ which are connoted by ‘Seongtong(性通)’. The principle of ‘Hyeonguan(玄關)’ and brain nerves(腦神經) matches up with the point of view which understands brain as a critical part to perceive oneself and the human nature.
Jeon Byeonghun"s 『Jeong_sin_cheol_hak_tong_pyeon(精神哲學通編)』 has received rave reviews from people who are highly reputed. Regarding that his ‘Jeongsin philosophy(精神哲學)’ shares key words with indigenous ‘Korean Sundo(韓國仙道)’, he has to be known as a memorable thinker in Korean ‘Sundo(仙道)’ history.
