The purpose of this research is to search the method to statistically research the status of spelling error using search engines on internet and to consider its validity. Meanwhile, the research to spelling errors has been conducted with the methods to examine texts directly and to survey. However, the former has a difficulty to check the relative error rate to each vocabulary and is difficult to measure the error rate of specific vocabulary. The latter has a problem that survey results are not matched with actual spelling error rate. Therefore, this research studied the status of spelling errors using searching function of search engines and its characteristics and effects are as followings: First, the research using internet has a high reliability of results due to huge size of searching texts; Second, the error rate of each vocabulary can be checked immediately; Third, as time passes, the change of spelling error rate in specific vocabulary can be observed; Fourth, the status of spelling errors according to the are of texts can be recognized.
