This article aims to suggest that it is necessary to refocus the composition and structure of the television broadcasting as the basis to analyze media text types. To this end I review the relevant works of linguistics and media science as a starting point for discussing. In this basis I present a typology of television news broadcasting as a macro-text. This paper concentrates upon the classification of a text type based on one or more aspects, not based on the text function or theme, but based on the modal form. Depending on the aspect I try to classify the television news broadcasting primarily on the base of the modal form (language and news film), secondarily according to the situation (who say news text, who appear throughout the news film or only partially or never, the role of the speaker, monologue or dialogue) and according to the functional criteria (for example, to inform, to comment, to announce)
