The purpose of this study was to analyze the working and preferred environment of Home-based telecommuter which supported activating Home-based telecommuting. Social survey research using questionnaire was conducted among people who were regular full-time telecommuter from November 30th to December 5th. 100 data were collected by e-mail, and SPSS PASW 18.0 program was used for statistical analysis.
Major findings were as follows: firstly, most of the home-based telecommuters lived within two hours commuting time. Respondents pursued stronger needs to maintain lifestyle for flexible working hour than upon overcoming the physical distance.
Secondly, in preferred housing environment, functional requirements was high. In working environment, needs for human, physical and environmental need were balanced.
Thirdly, in metropolitan area, preference level of residential environment was higher and barrier factors were lower than rural area.
In conclusion, for the development of home-based telecommuting, more elaborated working and living conditions for functional telecommuting might be needed.
