The ratio of apartments among all Korean housing forms rapidly increased from 37.5% in 1995 to 59% in 2010. However, the lifespan of apartments in Korea is extremely short compared to that in advanced countries, such as the US and Europe. There may be various causes of the short lifespan of apartments, but apartments are frequently demolished not due to the physical life of the structure itself but due to the inability of meeting diverse demands of the residents. Thus, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is operating the longlife housing validation system on apartment housing, which have secured structural durability for the longevity of apartment housing, variability that can meet various demands of the residents, and easiness of repairs of easy replacement of pipes having a short lifespan, since December 2014. However, this validation system continually requires amendments concerning the scoring method, items for validation, and the need for specialty as an additional validation system, due to the partial overlapping of items for validation with the existing green architectural validation system. Accordingly, this study intends to be used as basic data for the improvement and settlement of the long life housing validation system through professional surveys on the current longlife housing validation system.
