This study empirically analyses the effects of the sense of the local community on the local community participation and communication channel use. The study results show that the local involvement, the local intimacy, and the emotional connection has the positive effects on the local community participation, which means that the emotional interaction between the local resident and the local community enhances the local community participation.
With regard to media use, the higher the local involvement, the more use of the local TV news and the Internet news. The emotional connection and the local involvement have the positive effects on the interpersonal communication, which applies that the emotional connection and the interest in the local community can activate the interpersonal communication.
It also shows that the differential pattern of media use according to the local community participation. It can be found that the interpersonal communication is also the useful communication channel in the local community participation.
