The objectives of this study were to examine how personal attraction evaluation of women`s appearance varies according to perceiver`s gender, body type, and clothing color: to investigate the differences of personal attraction evaluation according to the clothing type: and to disclose what image affects to attraction evaluation. Subjects were 436 college men and women in Seoul, Korea. Heavyweight types were perceived more negative than ordinary types in intelligence, neatness. femininity, and becomingness. Red shirts were perceived higher in sprightly image, blue were lower in intellectual and becoming images. Dark blue were lower in individual and elegant images. White were perceived higher in smart and natural images, gray were lower in prominent image. Men evaluated heavyweight less neat than ordinary types. Gray shirts of heavyweight types were perceived lower in self-confidence than that of ordinary types. In case of the red and blue shirts, women perceived heavyweight less intellectual compared to the ordinary types. Red and blue dresses were evaluated higher in self-confident image, purple dresses were individual, white were feminine and ordinary, and black were neat and smart. The shirts wearers were found attractive by male perceiver when they were refined, feminine and prominent. In the case of female perceiver, attractiveness of shirts was determined by sexy, refined, individual, and elegant images, and attractiveness of one-piece dresses was by feminine, prominent, sprightly, refined, and sexy images. Thus, compared to women, men considered feminine image of shirt more important when evaluating attractiveness.
