This article investigates the impact of Performance Assessment Rating Tool(PART) on recommendations in the executive budget. In a multivariate analysis using data from PART scores of FY2006, FY2007, and FY2008 budget, with the relevant independent variables including previous year`s budget changes and program ages, it is found that the PART have a statistically significant impact on budget decision on financial program and small size type program within the executives. Also, the PART scores appear to influence private assistant programs, rather than agency-owned programs. In the analysis employing the components of PART as an alternative independent variable, the "program purpose" is found to have an impact on budget changes in financial program, and the "program management" component has an impact on private assistant program. But the "results" component, which was designed to redirect resources to programs that produce results, appears to have no statistically significant impact on budget decision. It may be due to the lack of adequate performance measures for programs in the "results" component of PART.
