The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different exercise intensity and age on oxidant and antioxidant at the endurance exercise. Twenty male subjects were separated two groups[MAG; 40~ 49yrs(n = 10), OAG; 60~69yrs(n = 10)] based on age. The changes of serum malondiadehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) activities were measured by endurance exercise test for 3 relative intensities (55~60%VO<sub>2max</sub>, 65~70%VO<sub>2max</sub>, 80%VO<sub>2max</sub>). The activity of MDA was showed significant differences between groups(by age) and among three relative intensities. In old age group(OAG, 60~69yrs) and 80%VO<sub>2max</sub>, the activity of MDA was showed significantly higher than in middle age group(MAG, 40~49yrs) and 55~60%VO<sub>2max</sub> and 65~70%VO<sub>2max</sub>. The activity of SOD was showed significant differences between groups and among three relative intensities. In middle age group(MAG, 40~49yrs) and 80%VO<sub>2max</sub>, the activity of SOD was showed significantly higher than in old age group(OAG, 60~69yrs) and 55~60%VO<sub>2max</sub> and 65~70%VO<sub>2max</sub>. The activity of CAT was showed significant differences between groups and among three relative intensities. In middle age group (MAG, 40~49yrs) and 65~70%VO<sub>2max</sub>, the activity of CAT was showed significantly higher than in old age group(OAG, 60~69yrs) and 55~60%VO<sub>2max</sub> and 65~70%VO<sub>2max</sub>. In conclusion, this study suggests that inhibit the activity of MDA increased and the activity of SOD and CAT antioxidant enzymes can increase the intensity until the middle-aged moderate intensity(65~70%VO<sub>2max</sub>), if the old-aged low intensity(55~60%VO<sub>2max</sub>).
