This research was to investigate the effects of interlimb coordination training on motor function recovery and daily living activity in chronic stroke patients. Twenty patients were volunteered to participate in the study as subjects and were assigned randomly into one of two groups(training group and control group). The subjects in the training group went through the interlimb coordination training performed for 60 minutes per a session, 3 times a week for 12 weeks. On the other hand, the subjects in control group were asked not to change their normal life style during the intervention period. In pretest-posttest, functional reaching test, finger movement test, and MAL were measured. The collected data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA. The results were as follows: Firstly, in functional reaching task, movement time was decreased significantly in training group whereas there was not difference in movement time in control group. Secondly, in the finger movement test, reaction time was decreased significantly in training group whereas reaction time did not change in control group. Finally, in MAL, there was significant difference in training group at retention test. In conclusion, it was illustrated that interlimb coordination training improved upper limb motor function recovery and daily living of stroke patients. Therefore, local community based interlimb coordination training program will be valuable program for changing daily living actively and increasing living independence in stroke patients.
