This paper presents a new method to build rice steamer and the experimental results of its efficiency base on electrical conversion and the rice consistency. Heat energy was conducted by electrical power generated from the photovoltaic system. Eight solar panels with 50-Watt load are employed to convert and store sun radiation, which generate electricity onto the halogen bulb. This process conducts heat instead of electromagnetic coil. The experimental results were collected data based on the average value from weeks of daylight availability located at the Faculty of Engineering, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (14°2′N, 100°43′E), and Thailand. The performance and photovoltaic efficiency values are determined under various kinds of sky conditions, cooking durations, and performance of the rice cooker. The performance of the rice cooker is at 73.83 per cent efficiency and the solar panel efficiency was 14.14 per cent based on our evaluation.
