Agricultural work is thought to be dominated by males. However, most of the works in agriculture are performed by women. Yet, the roles of women as food producers are always neglected. In this paper, it mainly discusses the roles of Malaysian women farmers in local food production, their qualities of life, and the challenges confronted in relation to the nature of their work. Further, I have suggested some solutions which could be applied at policy and local community levels in order to empower the marginalized women in agricultural field and address the existing problems in the food system.
