My paper will give a glance to the status of women in KPK, in terms of how this society is incorporating their customs and traditions into religion (Islam) and practicing them in a way that violates the women of their society but then defending themselves under the cover of Islam. The situation is further exacerbated due to the ignorance of less educated women, who are not even well informed of their religion. In addition, this religion is not practiced in its pure form, but instead, is used for one’s own personal benefit. Society is killing women in the name of Honor and is restricting them from using their power of Khula (divorce), if it is ever needed. They are the one given in SWARA to settle the rivalry between two families. Women are the ones who are exploited most by this religious phenomena. This paper will also look into the psychological interventions that are needed. It is important to recognize that awareness about rights as well as religion is necessary. As a Psychologist I feel that providing them mental Peace and strength can make them fight for their rights and minimize their misery.
