Critical Discourse Analysis represents a way of recognizing or grasping the happenings in a society. This paper solely focuses on a particular political discourse to analyze ideology in relation to multiculturalism in Britain. When it comes to informing or transmitting some information, text-producers employ predicational strategies for text-recipients to comprehend the content between the lines. The news article is analyzed in terms of topos as a predicational strategy and CBT. These mechanisms have been applied in CDA in order to conceptualize text recipients’ cognitive process in the mind. CBT in particular represents text recipients’ mind distinctively. Thus, this paper seeks metaphorical expressions in the news article, and then these expressions are shown by conceptual integration networks. Based on the analyzed texts, the news article in relation to multiculturalism and immigration indicates commonly three topoi out of the suggested ten topoi: the topos of threat, the topos of finance and the topos of displacement. It turns out that the text-producer recruits two metaphorical expressions by using particular words: Britain is a base and Britain is a safe haven and represents a metaphorical expression Britain is a heaven covertly from the whole article.
