According to the ‘Samgugsagi(『三國史記』)", ‘Gung(宮)’ was to vacate the throne(禪位) to brother Susung(遂成). In this document, ‘Samgugsagi" use the expression ‘Ching(稱)" to distinguish it from other Goguryo kings. This means that ‘King Taejo(太祖王)" was enacted when he was alive. On the other hand, there is another royal title(王號) of ‘King Taejo" who is called ‘King Gukjo(國祖王)". It is presumed that ‘Gukjo(國祖)" and ‘Taejo(太祖)" were not in the same sense, so these royal title had a backward relationship. At this time, ‘King Chadae(次大王)" enacted royal title to front king(先王) was the king of the country. In 165, ‘King Sindae(新大 王)" was to killed ‘King Chadae", on the throne. In 167, ‘King Sindae" held Sijo shrine(始祖廟) ceremony to strengthen ties with various forces. In this process, it seems that ‘King Gukjo" was relatively faded.
Sijo shrine ceremony was also held during the reign of ‘King Gogukchen(故國川王)", probably not much different from that of ‘King Sindae". The next example is seen at the time of ‘King Dongchen(東川王)". To sum up the historical data, it can be concluded that the name of ‘King Dongchen" has changed from ‘Gyoche(郊彘)" to ‘Wigung(位宮)". Unfortunatelly, during the reign of ‘King Sansang", the Sijo shrine ceremony can not be seen, Probably because of the prestige of the ‘Queen Woo(于氏)" who was in power at the time. This can also be seen through ‘Queen Woo" persecution of the ‘King Dongchen" and his mother. In 228, ‘King Dongchen" held Sijo shrine ceremony, which would not have had a great effect because of ‘Queen Woo". In other words, ‘King Dongchen" had to reinforce his position through other routes.
In this situation, Goguryo comes into contact with Sun-Wu(孫吳) by chance path. In fact, Goguryo has been in contact with Chinese from the past. In China, as seen in the ‘Taejo Go-Emperor(太祖高皇帝)" of Hou-Han(後漢), early ‘Taejo" were used. Perhaps the ‘Taejo" of ‘King Taejo" appears to have come from the Chinese style Myoho(廟號). Sun-Wu and Cao-Wei(曹魏) also used the ‘Taojo", as in the case of Hou-Han. In the view of ‘King Dongchen", He would have tried to obtain information on the Chinese situation at the time. As a result, it is supposed that in 243, the son ‘Yeonbul(然弗)" was made a royal prince, and ‘King Gukjo" ‘Gung" was changed into ‘King Taejo"
