Report Errors
The objective of the study is to investigate the influence of elderly football club members’ motivation to participate on physical self-concept and leisure satisfaction. Based on the responses from 206 elderly football club members playing in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, following results were reported. First, elderly football club members’ motivation to participate (Intellectual, Social, and Cognitive factors) had partial influence on physical self-concept (sport competence, physical activity, self-esteem, flexibility and overall body, appearance, health, and muscular strength). Secondly, the intellectual factor influenced emotional, physical, environmental and educational satisfaction, cognitive factor influenced social and educational satisfaction. Social factor and restful factor influenced all sub-factors of leisure satisfaction Finally, elderly football club members’ physical self-concept (health, overall body, sport competence, physical activity and self-esteem affected social satisfaction; sport competence, flexibility, overall body, muscular strength, self-esteem and physical activity influenced emotional satisfaction. Also, flexibility, whole body and self-esteem influences environmental satisfaction. These results indicate that the football club activity of elderly can provide opportunity to establish positive interpersonal relationship, and to avoid negative social emotions by increasing the physical esteem and emotional/social satisfaction.
