In addition to the current emphasis on the importance of cultural identity to protect culture, there have been continuous efforts to restore and artistically express traditional culture in diverse areas. As practical paintings that enhanced the beauty and emotional vibrancy of ordinary people"s lives by representing the traditional culture of our nation, folk paintings are based on the theme of flowers and birds as materials of nature most familiar to humans. These admiring paintings of flowers, trees, grass, insects, and animals on a canvas, depending on seasonal changes, not only contain the shamanistic meanings of people"s hopes, but also provide symbolic meaning through the external beauty of numerous flowers and birds as art according to our love of nature. The objective of this study is to suggest the ability of creative works to produce a formative and modern image through pictorial and air-brush techniques in body art production, based on the images of beauty shown in folk paintings of flowers and birds in the late Chosun Dynasty. Through this study, it would therefore be possible to widely inform the traditionality and aesthetic value of folk paintings, and also to practically utilize them in diverse areas.
