This study focuses on the structural relationship between neighborhood environments, daily walking activities, and subjective health status using the 2016 survey data in Seoul, Korea. We utilized path model to examine the direct and indirect effects of neighborhood environment on daily walking activities and subjective health status. The results indicate that air quality satisfaction, subjectively measured mixed land use, the number of small retail shops and public transportation systems are very important factors that are associated with daily walking activities as well as subjective health status. In particular, air quality shows a direct effect on daily walking time. It has also direct and indirect effects on subjective health status. This finding indicates that air quality improvement should be a priority goal for promoting walking activities and subjective health status. Furthermore, this study also indicates that the neighborhood environmental factors have different effects on daily walking frequency and daily walking time, respectively. Although neighborhood vitality and neighborhood facilities have positive impacts on daily walking frequency, they are not statistically significant on daily walking time. Overall, this study identifies the structural relationship between neighborhood environments, daily walking activities, and subjective health status and suggests policy implications to promote daily walking activities and subjective health status.
