This study aimed to reveal the effects of competitive state anxiety on stress and performance targeting male university student athletes with injury within the last three years. Using total 146 samples of male university student athletes for final analysis, the results were drawn through frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis suitable for the purpose. First, in the results of examining the actual status of injury, the types of injury included muscle/tendon strain(37.7%), ligament sprain(34.2%), bone fracture(13%), joint dislocation(11.6%), skin wound(3.4%). The causes for injury included excessive training(43.2%), lack of warm-up exercise(subjects" carelessness)(17.1%), fatigue & lack of concentration(15.8%), excessive competitive spirit(13.7%), others" disturbance(6.2%), flaws in facilities(equipments) & environment(4.1%). The time of injury occurrence included during training (69.2%), during game(24.7%), others(exercise environment and etc.)(4.8%), during warm-up exercise (1.4%). Second, in the effects of competitive state anxiety on the stress, the perceived state anxiety had significant effects on the concerns about career and study, dissatisfaction with game and function, and dissatisfaction with personal life while the physical state anxiety had significant effects on the dissatisfaction with personal life. Third, in the effects of competitive state anxiety on the performance, the confidence state had significant effects on the performance. Fourth, in the effects of stress on the performance, the concerns about career and study, and dissatisfaction with game and function had significant effects on the performance. By examining the actual injury status of university student athletes and also understanding the effects of competitive state anxiety on the stress and performance, the results of this study could provide basic data for preventing injury of university student athletes and also meaningful information, so that injury does not work as a negative element to athletes.
