This study is to compare quality of life on the elderly among urban, farm and island area. The respondents for this study were 571 old aged people who were above 65 years old in sun-cheon city, ham-pyung gun and sin-an gun in junranam province. The survey consists of lots of questions to inform the general feature, financial condition, health condition and social characteristics. the statistical methods used for the data analysis were descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and multiple regression. The major findings were obtained in this study as following. First, the old aged in urban area were the lowest economic condition than other area. Second, the old aged in urban area were the lowest level than other area in ADL & IADL. Third, the old aged in island area were the lowest social network, but the old aged in urban area were the lowest record than other area in social support. Fourth, the major determinants of life satisfaction were different by the dwelling area. Finally, implications were discussed for developing effective social welfare policies and social work program to the elderly persons for improvement of their Life satisfaction.

본 연구는 도시와 농촌 그리고 어촌지역에 거주하는 노인들의 삶의 질에 대한 특성을 비교분석하기 위한 연구로서, 노인들의 삶의 질의 영역을 경제적 영역, 신체적 안녕, 사회적 특성 영역, 생활만족도로 구분하고 거주지역에 따라 차이가 있는 가를 비교분석하였다. 조사대상자는 전남 순천시, 함평군, 신안군에 거주하는 65세 이상의 노인 571명을 조사하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과들을 다음과 같다. 첫째, 경제적 특성을 살펴보면, 자가소유율, 취업률 그리고 월 평균 소득에 있어서 도시지역 노인이 농촌과 어촌지역 노인에 비해 가장 낮게 나타났다. 둘째, 신체적 건강을 살펴보면, 질환 질병수에 있어서는 어촌노인이 가장 높았지만, ADL과 IADL에 있어서는 도시지역 노인이 농촌과 어촌지역 노인보다 더 기능수행이 낮은 것으로 조사되었다. 셋째, 사회적 관계망 특성에 있어서는 어촌지역의 경우 이동의 한계점 때문에 농촌이나 도시지역의 노인에 비해 비동거 자녀나 형제자매 그리고 친척과의 만남이나 연락정도가 가장 낮은 것으로 조사되었다. 그러나 사회적 지지 점수를 비교할 때 도시지역의 노인들이 농촌과 어촌지역의 노인에 비해 매우 낮은 정도의 지지를 제공받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 노인들의 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 비교한 결과 농촌지역노인에게는 연령과 주관적 건강인식이, 어촌지역 노인에게는 수급권자 여부와 주관적 건강인식 그리고 IADL이, 도시지역 노인에게는 독거노인유무와 자녀만남정도가 생활만족도에 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 노인의 거주지역에 따라 삶의 질에 차이가 나타나고 있으며, 생활만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인이 상이하게 작용하고 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 노인복지정책 수립시 지역 특성에 기초한 정책수립이 필요함을 보여준다.
