The purpose of this experiment was to increase strength in muscles around the ankle and isovolumic balance on patients with chronic ankle instability using sling and isovolumic balance exercises. This intends to help patients prevent disease recurrence and also increase rehabilitation. So, this experiment is to compare and analyze the effectiveness of the combination of proprioceptive sense training which was showed its effectiveness in previous studies and sling exercise which is widely used. The 12 participants were selected and they were classified into two groups: Stable and Instable. These participants performed both sling and isovolumic exercises three times a week for four weeks. In order to establish the effectiveness of the treatment, EMG (electromyogram) was performed before and after the experiment, and isovolumic balance and ankle instability test (CAIT) was conducted. As a result (after four weeks of treatment), there were increase in muscle activity, isovolumic balance, and ankle instability test (CAIT). According to the EMG testing, there was no statistically significant increase (p>0.05) after the treatment, but there was an increase numerically (p<0.05). Therefore, this experiment shows that sling exercise is more effective than isovolumic balance exercise and regular proprioceptive sense training on treating ankle sprained patients. Sling exercise will induce faster recovery for the ankle sprained patients the best.
