Purpose: The purposes of this study are comparing QCL of university students with hearing loss and normal hearing, seeking for variables related to the quality of communication life for university students with hearing loss, and finding predictive ability of variables. Methods: QCL of 27 students with hearing loss and 27 students with normal hearing was measured. Also, communication abilities of students with hearing loss were evaluated. Results: First, mean QCL of hearing loss students was significantly lower than students with normal hearing. Second, listening ability among communication ability was significantly correlated to QCL. Third, listening ability could predict 25% of QCL. Conclusions: These results suggest that improvement of listening ability of hearing loss students has a positive effect on improving the quality of communication life. This result is important to provide base line data of intervention for improving the quality of life of students with hearing loss.
