Many people think, “I thought that the Great Commission in the New Teatament.” This opinion is right. The Great Commission is in the New Teatament. Jesus ordered to his disciples to go into all the world and make disciples(Matt 28:18-20; Mark 16:15- 16; Luke 24:24:46-48; John 20:21-23; Acts 1:7-8). Even, much of the remainder of the New Testament relates how the elarly church fulfilled the Great Commission. However, we may raise the question, “Is the Great Commission really the exclusive property of the New Testament.” “Is there not really a concept of evangelism for gentiles in the Old Testament?” No, the Old Testament also contains that God called Israel to be the light of all nations. God expected them to go to the nations and declare His glory so that foreigners might come to fear God. This mission is revealed from human creation’s purpose, especially to Abraham’s covenant, David’s covenant, to the salvational works through the prophets in the Old Testament. Throughout Israel’s history, God’s election was a call to be a kingdom of priests and a light to the nations. Moreover, the Old Teatament anticipates the coming of the Messiah, the Servant of the Lord. Such a prophecy is fulfilled by that Simeon proclaimed in the temple when the held the baby Jesus(Luke 2:29-32). Jesus Christ carried out the salvation by his death and resurrection, and ordered to his disciples to evangelize all nations throughout the Great Commission. All apotles and the early churches made their all efforts to fulfill the Great Commission. Therefore, evangelism for all nations is a biblical concept—not just a New Testament one. Both Old Testament and New Testament are continually conneted in evangelism theology. However, the New Testament calls for more active works in evangelism.
