The “Moravian Church,” which is one of the German pietism in the eighteenth century, is one of the founders who settled the mission of the church in Protestantism. At that time, the Lutheran church, which was a German state church, was only focusing on the meaningless doctrinal controversy and hardly stressed responsibility for mission. In this situation, the Moravian church, which has invested all passion, resources and manpower in world mission, was a very unique church. Until the birth of the Moravian Church, there was a person’s dedication and effort called Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf. The Moravian church began by his meeting with a group of refugees who had fled to Herrnhut for religious reasons. The theology and thought of Zinzendorf was influenced by German pietism at the time and formed at the Halle University, which was called the cradle of pietism. His important theology is the top priority of the preaching the gospel, a crucial role of the Holy Spirit in preaching the gospel, and the importance of training the missionaries. These theologies became the foundation of the mission strategy of the Moravians. Their mission strategy was ① to establish indigenous churches, ② to preach only Jesus Christ, ③ to recognize the value and importance of the “first fruits”, ④ no fruit, no more work, ⑤ self-support, ⑥ the principle of non-interference with sensitive issues, and ⑧ music. The Moravian church’s passion for mission, its philosophy of mission, and its actual ministry of ministry give great lessons to the overly complex and thoughtful mission strategies of today’s churches.
