The importance of leisure sports as financial concerns in post-industrial society is continually gaining more weight. That is, business associated with professional sports, leisure sports, golf courses, ski resorts, and related facilities such as theme parks, the horse and bicycle racing and business, are all growing in new directions as future oriented 21st century enterprises. In particular, in light of the current financial crisis, the need for financial independence and increased profits necessary for the support of both professional and amateur sport competitions and functions is keenly felt by sports related organizations. Also, there is an increase in the active development of programs for leisure sport industries. In addition, leisure sport industries which correspond to the modern business culture are attempting to bring about popularization of leisure industries represented by such diverse activities and facilities as overweight clinics, aerobics, health clubs, yoga, gymnastics, traditional martial arts, sport dance, etc. In this way, leisure sports and activities are expected to greatly increase in popularity in the coming century. Leisure sport industry in the coming century can be characterized in the following four ways: constructive use of time, utilization of natural resources, opportunity for cultivation of cultural experiences, and community related activities. The need for research into leisure sport as industry has begin felt in universities leading to the establishment of related curriculum such as tourism and leisure sport departments. In the physical education department as well, sports management departments have been widely established resulting in much scientific research regarding the leisure sport industry.
