The purposes of this study were to examine the difference in perceived social support, self-efficiency, and health promoting behavior of the aged according to demographic factors, and to investigate the effect of perceived social support and self-efficiency on health promoting behavior. The participants of this study consisted of 364 elderly selected by purposive sampling method from 4 welfare centers for the elderly in Seoul, Korea. T-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression using the SPSS program were conducted in order to analyze data. The results of the analysis were as follows; First, difference in perceived social support, self-efficiency, and health promoting behavior according to demographic factors(i.e., age, level of education, amount of allowance, and status of marriage) were found. Second, participants` perceived social support and self-efficiency were significantly related to the health promoting behavior. Especially, perceived self support and physical self-efficiency had influence on health promoting behavior.
