This study investigated city brand and symbol among factors expressing the city from the marketing perspective and tried to identify the more efficient one when application icon image is applied through color analysis. Research methods used in this study were literature review and analysis of questionnaires. The survey questionnaires were limited to the city brand image and the symbolic image, the visual elements of the city. Fourteen application icons of local governments whose mobile applications can be downloaded were selected for the purpose of the survey. The analysis results are as follows. Subjects answered that applying the city brand image to the application icon image was better represented in the symbol of the city. The order of visual influence factors was typography, color, illustration, and others. Color received high points as a visual influencing factor. Additionally, when analyzing images where city brand was selected according to the influence of color among city hall application icons, it was found that chromatic colors in the city brand had higher number of colors and tones than symbolic images. Based on the results of the analysis, it was shown that the use of the city brand in developing the city hall application icon was effective in expressing the city symbol. It is expected that this study will help with the development of city hall applications that can share necessary information in the exchange of many cultures through this study.
