The purpose of this paper is to prove that the canonicity and theology of the Song of Songs are to be comprehended once the book is interpreted through two elements that enabled the problematic book to make its way into the Canon of the Hebrew Scriptures: creation theology of the wisdom tradents and their cultural integration process in which the attributes of Israelite God had been expanded in the context of hebrew sapiential traditions. A short review of the history of the interpretations of the Song reveals the problem that allegorical readings have prevented readers from grasping the literal and evident meanings of erotic love in the book. This study discusses that interpreters have overlooked the role of the sapiential tradents whose faith was based on creation theology and whose way of understanding of the divine Love experienced an analogy along with the goodness of erotic love under the greater love of the Creator. The recovery of creation theology opens the way to the original and sound meaning of the Song. This study concludes that the theology of the Canticle is to celebrate the goodness and beauty of the love between man and woman. For they are wonderful works of the Creator God who created this world by the Passion of Love in Truth.
