The purpose of this study was to investigate how shared leadership, which emerges recently with the introduction of horizontal organizational structure, among athletes in the university soccer teams influences on innovative behavior and its process. Particularly, we examined the mediating role of players’ resilience between shared leadership and innovative behavior. We distributed questionnaires to 175 athletes in 5 university soccer teams and a total of 166 samples were used for final data analysis. We used SPSS 16.0 for frequency analysis, reliability test, corelation analysis and Lisrel 9.2 for confirmatory factor analysis. Having conducted structural equation model, the results of this study were as follows. First, shared leadership among athletes in the university soccer teams had a positive effect on athletes’ resilience. Second, athletes’ resilience had a positive effect on athletes’ innovative behavior. Third, it was found that athlete’s resilience partially mediated between shared leadership among athletes and athlete’s innovative behavior.
