The relationship between Korea and Taiwan has developed considerably in the past twenty-six years after the bridge was opened in 1992, mainly in the economic and social cultures, and in non-political fields such as tourism and education. However, in the case of the political field, it is true that the speed of development is slower than other fields due to the limitation that China must be conscious of.
In recent years, the image of Korea in Taiwan, including the younger generation due to the influence of the Korean Wave, is good. According to a poll, Korea is ranked 5th in Taiwan behind Taiwan, the US, Japan and ASEAN. However, the elites and the public opinion leaders in the political economy are not so favorable because of their jealousy and competitiveness in the development of Korea and their passive attitude toward the promotion of relations with the Taiwanese. The development of the relationship between Korea and Taiwan is achieved through either one. Taiwan needs to be more active. Especially, the situation that Korea"s recognition of Taiwan is getting better is a good opportunity for Taiwan.
