This research aims at illuminating how critical thinking helps people review their views, beliefs and ideas. Uncritical and passive thinking tends to lead people to look at the world with prejudice and stereotyped ideas. Thus, only constant review of one’s life through critical perspectives enables to overcome one’s narrow-sightedness. This is because critical thinking requires the ability not only to ask questions but also to find answers to those questions through active analysis and evaluation of such questions and answers, by which people can solve problems and make decisions. In these regards, the writers attempt to demonstrate how critical thinking is utilized in philosophical counseling by suggesting a ‘Critical-Thinking-Based Philosophical Counselling (CBP), which is the result of overcoming some of the shortcomings of Cohen’s ‘Logic-Based Therapy (LBT). Although the LBT is known as a typical method of philosophical counseling using critical thinking, it utilizes quite limited use of critical thinking. Therefore, the writers offer CBP as a practical method that appropriates critical thinking readily in various counseling situations with a case example.
