Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between participation motivation, self-efficacy, exercise commitment, exercise adherence among dance sports participants.
Method: In order to achieve the purpose of this study, we surveyed dance sports participants (280 effective samples). A total of eight hypotheses were analyzed using frequency, reliability, correlation, confirmatory factor, path analysis and structural equation modeling through SPSS and AMOS statistics.
Results: First, participation motivation, self-efficacy, and exercise commitment had a positive effect on exercise adherence. Second, participation motivation and self-efficacy had a positive effect on exercise commitment. Third, participation motivation had a positive effect on self-efficacy. Fourth, self-efficacy was partially mediated by the path from participation motivation to exercise commitment, and from participation motivation to exercise adherence.
Conclusion: In summary, the findings in this study suggest that participation motivation and self-efficacy should be considered important for promoting exercise commitment and exercise adherence among dance sports participants.
