Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between social support and exercise passion and sports participation among students who were participating in volleyball club activities at the National University of Education.
Method: In 2017, 253 students participating in the National Education University Volleyball Competition received consent from researchers to collect and process data and carried out the procedure on research ethics. For this purpose, the analysis was made using versions 21 of the SPSS statistical programs and Amos 18.0 and the specific data processing was as follows.
Results: First, the causal relationship between social support and exercise participation had shown that social support has a significant impact on exercise participation. Second, the relationship between social support and exercise passion showed that social support had a significant effect on exercise passion. In particular, emotional, information and material support, a sub-factor of social support, were found to have a positive effect on harmonization passion. Third, the causal relationship between exercise passion and exercise participation showed that social support had a significant effect on exercise passion. In particular, in the sub-factor of social support, harmonic passion has been shown to influence. Fourth, the results of the verification of the research model showed that the joining degree of the model was χ²=2.263, df=2, and Q, 1.131. RMR was also shown as .008 and RMSEA as .023, GFI as .996, NFI as .973, TLI as .999, and CFI as .999.
Conclusion: Through this study, social support and exercise passion are identified factors that positively affect exercise participation. Therefore, there is a need to mediating for promoting exercise participation. Also, information support is an important factor in athletic participation for students at the National University of Education.
