This article is to analyze indirect directives speech acts in Thai language based upon Austine’s speech acts theory. To the aim, its part two examines what are the concepts of speech acts, indirect speech acts and indirect directives speech acts. Indirect directives speech acts can be seen in various forms of sentences. However, it is very common that indirect directives speech acts can be seen in assertive sentence and interrogative sentence. Thus, this work analyzes indirect directives speech acts that are reflected in assertive and interrogative sentences in Thai language in respective. Its part three examines the characters of indirect directives speech acts in Thai assertive sentences, focusing on speaker-centered speech acts and listener-centered speech acts in respective. The speaker-centered speech acts mean a structure of sentence in which speaker is subject, while listener-centered speech acts mean a structure of sentence in which listener is subject. Part four surveys the characters of indirect directives speech acts in Thai interrogative sentences, focusing on alternative question and wh-question in respective.
