The purpose of this article was to elucidate social aspects on the concept between beauty and skin whiteness, which seemingly is a standard of beauty in this consumerist era. Such conception causes the conflict of social stratification on skin colour. In other words, fair-skinned women have been admired and have been given more social opportunities than the darker ones. The concept of “Whiteness is Beauty” brings women themselves, the self-pressure, and this induces them to willingly try to change themselves for a brighter skin. On this point, Advertising Medias pull together to find out the solution for them by repeatedly creating the “Discourse on Whiteness” which admires the fair-skins. And women also willingly agree on such suggestion because the fundamental social view keeps framing them that they will be given better more social opportunities, and they can gain self-respect if they have a fairer skin. Therefore, this article was written to reflect some point of views from the author, which may remind us whether we equally value the importance of inner beauty as the importance of outer beauty or not.
