The purpose of this study is to solve the problems of social exclusion and find alternative resolutions for symbiosis by examining the social mix policies implemented by the government and the share houses initiated by young generation of the private sector. Discrimination and exclusion of rental residents emerged as serious social problems in rental apartment complexes that were constructed collectively to provide stable housing for the low income class. The social mix policy was introduced to solve these problems. However, it has been investigated that conflicts and clashes between social groups continue to rise due to physical and locational discrimination and lack of system and regulations. It was found that social mix policy has yet to be achieved under the current situation in which conflicting psychological perception still exists between social classes while social capital and community for social integration are not established. Under these circumstances, the young generation who became one of the housing vulnerable groups because of unemployment crisis, unstable employment and low income, started the alternative housing movement called ‘share house’ to voluntarily solve the problem of exclusion in the housing area. This study was able to confirm that the young generation is generating care, closeness, sense of community and sustainability from sharing space, capital and relationship and is also attempting to build residential communities with the rationale for symbiosis in share houses.
