조직역량 기반 기업에 비해 제한된 자원을 활용하는 기업가적 기업의 국제화 이론을 검토하였다. 초점은 국제화 수준과 속도에 관한 것이다. 국제화 수준은 목표와 기능에 따라 OEM, 수출입, 계약 또는 전략적 제휴, 그리고 FDI를 통합하는 과정으로 정의된다. 국제화 속도는 기업가적 기업의 초기 시장진입 결과의 민첩성을 가리킨다. 기업가적 기업의 경우, 기업가의 경험적 지식과 네트워킹 역량이 국제화 수준 결정의 전제조건인 동시에 국제화 속도에 영향을 주는 요인이라고 하겠다.
