This study examined the relationships among parental over-intrusiveness, adolescents' social withdraw, and depression. For these reasons, this study investigated direct and indirect influences of parental over-intrusiveness on the depression of high school students by exploring pathways between parental over-intrusiveness, adolescents' social withdraw, and depression. Korean Child Youth Panel Survey data of the 4th wave were used to analyze 2,108 1st high school students. The data were analyzed using SEM. We found a direct effect of parental over-intrusiveness on the depression of adolescents. We also found that adolescents' social withdraw partly mediated the relationship between parental over-intrusiveness and the depression of adolescents. These findings emphasize that parental over-intrusiveness plays a significant role in predicting the social withdraw of adolescents. The implications of theses results are discussed for intervention and prevention of depression of high school students.
