This study examines the effects of working hours and salary on burnout and job satisfaction amongchild welfare workers. A dataset about child welfare workers from the national representative survey ofself-sufficiency support for vulnerable children and adolescents was used and hierarchical regression analyseswere conducted. Findings indicated that all working hour variables including average weekly working hours,average monthly overtime and average monthly overnight were positively associated with burnout and werenegatively associated with job satisfaction. Second, lower salary and greater gap between current salaryand desirable salary were significantly associated with higher burnout and lower job satisfaction. Findingsdemonstrated that the gap between current salary and desirable salary was the strongest factor affectingburnout and job satisfaction. Also, night duty was the second strongest factor affecting both burnout andjob satisfaction. Female and younger workers were more likely to perceive burnout and were less likely tosatisfy with their jobs. Implications for preventing burnout and promoting job satisfaction among childwelfare workers are discussed.
