The purpose of this study was to recognize the effects of preschool children’s temperament upon their social competence. The subjects were 379 preschool teachers and parents of preschool children in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Gwangju, and Jeollanam-do. Data was collected through the Parent Temperament Questionnaire and Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales. The figures were expressed as percentages and frequencies for data analysis, and we obtained a Cronbach of reliability coefficient for our investigation of credibility and reliability. Cluster analysis was conducted on the group of child-disposition, and frequencies and percentages were calculated to examine the quality of the group. Cluster analysis was conducted to extract distinct clusters and revealed four groups: passive activity reaction group, defect group, regulation group, and active activity reaction group. Furthermore, the study found differences in social norm adaption and social stability among low rank variables of social competence according to temperament groups.
