As the world has increasingly become globalized because of technical developments such as using Internet or mass media, and of high mobility among nations, most educators in many countries have begun to acknowledge the emergent importance of the multicultural issue. Inevitably, the issue of multicultural education relates to the matter of how to prepare teachers for multicultural education. Currently, Korea, as a nation, is in the process to becoming a multiethnic, multicultural society because of the influx of both migrant-laborers and international marriage. The main purpose of this article is to get insights for multicultural teacher education program in Korea by looking at how each nation such as Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom (UK) has been addressing the issue of multicultural teacher education. After investigating both how each nation has developed historically multicultural education and what are the important issues in terms of multicultural teacher education in each nation, as a conclusion of this article, I emphasize several points that Korean teacher educators must think about importantly in addressing multicultural teacher education in Korea.
