(Background and Purpose)Public art and design has been given a critical role in terms of its contribution to culture-led urban regeneration and space branding, especially in the broad term of city branding, since late 20th Century. This research deals with the elements working in the process of interactive 'participation’process in public art and design project. It is for understanding of participation-based public art and design's process mechanism which is an alternative solution for 2nd generation of culture-led urban regeneration by human-centered approach. (Method)From the literature reviews which catalysts through intervention, questioning global consumerism, political power and other rigid systems in urban culture, the viewpoint and framework has been developed. Selected, every 20 case was analysed by 'invitation element' and 'participation element' to develop model. (Result)Through the analysis of 20 public art and design cases, final analysis model shows the process and the relationship between two elements in participation process and offers the understanding about new viewpoint on human participation process and programs. (Contribution)It is for leading practitioners and researcher, as a means to develop strategies and achieve consistent added-value in participation based art and design projects.
