A type of group known as family is one of the most basic foundations for a society, It plays an important role, in terms of education, raising children, and as a place of rest. However, when there is violence at home, these functions are impeded, resulting in a negative impact on society. Domestic violence can be understood as all forms of violence that occur at home between members of the family including the more typical kinds:spousal violence, child abuse, and elderly abuse. Among the different types of violence at home, spousal violence and child abuse are thought to be the most serious by this author, which occur frequently. From the early 1980s, when domestic violence started to become an issue, to today, domestic violence has been on an increasing trend, despite the fact that there are various infrastructures in place for protecting victims of domestic violence and punishing those responsible and despite increasing awareness that domestic violence is a social crime. This paper examines the US’s “Greenbook policy,” which is serving as a good example for devising ways for actively and efficiently tackling domestic violence. Furthermore, based on the policy, ways to overcome the issues regarding protection of current victims of domestic violence are examined, as well as appropriate, active measures to combat domestic violence.
