Korean government has driven the R&D projects in IT industries by supporting the public funds from 1993. By doing so, Korean firms have overcome the technological gap successfully within shorter time. The analysis for the 2008's efficiency of the core technology R&D project has been carried out using the DEA model. This is the biggest project among the government driven ones in IT industries. The DEA model efficiently and rationally transforms the various types of the plural outcomes into the unified index. Using the output oriented BCC model, the overall efficiency of the project was revealed to 0.5911. And the lack of the academic papers and patents was the major source of the inefficiency. So the promotion for those outputs is essential in improving the project's efficiency. The DMUs with efficency '1' were merely 20.5% of the total DMUs. Moreover the DMUs operated in DRS condition was 77%. It suggests the need for the substantial change of funds allocation rules among DMUs. And the gaps in the efficiencies among DMU groups were not identified statistically at all, such as the government founded research institutes, educational institutes(college or university) and commercial corporations. Finally, the correlation by the simple correlation analysis was revealed to be ignorable between the DEA output and the conventional grades by the supervisors. Therefore, the improvement to approach the both results is required.
